Dar es Salaam Maritime Gateway Program (DMGP)

The Dar es Salaam Maritime Gateway Program (DMGP) aims at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Dar es Salaam Port and supporting the economic development of Tanzania and the land-linked countries. This program will increase the capacity of the Port to handle post-panamax vessels.


Project Background

The Dar es Salaam Port (DSM Port) is a multi-purpose port with eleven berths and a number of jetties. It is the country’s principal port that handles over 90% of country’s import and export volume and is the gateway to the central and northern parts of Tanzania and to the countries of Malawi, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda.
